Module 1: Introduction

To begin, we discuss the importance of DEI and related efforts for organizations, reflect on our current understanding and practices, and introduce the concept of reconciliation.
Module 2: Level Setting with Key Definitions

We define DEI and related concepts and discuss the differences.
Module 3: Bias, Mental Shortcuts, and Stereotypes

We will briefly explore how bias, mental shortcuts, and stereotypes affect how we perceive ourselves and others and how they can get in the way of DEI.
Module 4: Identities, Privilege, and Intersectionality

We learn about different types of identities and the meaning of privilege and power. We introduce the concept of intersectionality and outline what it means to take an intersectional approach.
Module 5: Allyship, Solidarity, and Inclusive Leadership

We investigate what allyship is and how to keep our allyship actionable by reframing it through the lens of solidarity. We learn the foundations of inclusive leadership and how to generate more equity for team members across different backgrounds and identities by practicing daily inclusive leadership.
Module 6: Inclusive Language and Practices

We explore how to formulate a meaningful apology and strategies for calling “in” team members when they cause harm. We also review leading practices on inclusive language across different social characteristics, such as gender, disability, race, and bodies. Finally, we align on the significance of names and pronouns in showing every team member dignity and respect.

We put our learning into practice by considering scenarios, making commitments, and setting goals to bring DEI into our daily work.
